The Summer Set

I bought this for a dinner I was honestly dreading — fancy place, my girlfriend's friends, the whole thing. I didn't want to look like I was trying too hard, but I also didn't want to be the underdressed guy again. Ended up being the most comfortable I've felt walking into a place like that in a long time. Nobody complimented the shirt. Nobody needed to. It just worked, and so did I.

I almost didn't order this ! white linen always feels like a risk for me. But I wore it on a trip and my girlfriend took this photo without me even posing. First time in years I looked at a beach photo of myself and didn't immediately want to delete it. The fabric breathes, it doesn't cling, and somehow it photographs better than anything I packed. Small thing, but it changed how I felt all week.

I'm not a 'matching outfit' guy, but I needed something for a friend's boat trip and didn't want to look like I was trying too hard or not hard enough. This shirt with the cream pants ended up being the only thing I wore the whole weekend. Someone asked where it was from like it was an expensive brand. It's not — it's just put together. That's the part that surprised me.

This was for our anniversary trip. I'll be honest, I packed it last-minute and almost left it home. My wife said afterward I looked like I'd actually planned my outfit for once — and I hadn't, not really. That's the part I appreciated. I wasn't thinking about my clothes all day. I was just there.

My wife picked this color for me and I was skeptical — green isn't really 'me.' But sitting there with a drink, not thinking about my shirt for once, not adjusting it, not tugging at it — that's when I realized this is what people mean when they say something just fits right. I didn't dress up. I just got dressed, and it worked.
